A DRIVER was left hanging when their car plunged off the road and came to rest 10 feet above the ground against the side of a house.
When officers arrived together with Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service, they found one vehicle had smashed through railings next to the A379 and come to rest against a home in Church Close, below the level of the road.
A fire service spokesman described the car’s position as ’precarious’.
The spokesman said: ’Fire engines from Plymstock and Greenbank, along with a heavy rescue vehicle from Middlemoor, were sent to a report of a road traffic collision where a car had gone into the front of a house and was resting in a precarious position.
’On arrival the crews confirmed that the car had left the road and crashed into railings at the front of the property and was resting approximately 10 feet above the ground between the road and the house.
’All people were fortunately free and clear from the vehicle and nobody inside the property was injured.’
Once firefighters had removed the vehicle from its resting place, the Highways Agency repaired the railings.
Police confirmed the driver of the car received only minor injuries. They are looking for any witnesses to the incident, and ask anyone who saw anything to get in touch by calling 101 or emailing [email protected] quoting log 863 200117.
