A CANCER-hit family whose holiday in the South Hams was blighted by car crime is asking the public for help.

Dave Biddlestone, his wife Jenni and their children John, 10, and Sam, 7, along with Jack the dog were on a half term caravan holiday when their car was broken into in Noss Mayo.

Jenni has stage-three breast cancer, and her handbag containing her precious phone and cash was stolen.

The break-in took place between 3.15pm and 3.45pm on Thursday, February 18, and the family, who are from Bristol, are asking anyone with any information to come forward.

Dave said: ‘We’ve had many happy holidays down here, and this is the first time anything disappointing has happened. We’ve always been given a very warm welcome by everyone we’ve met.

‘My wife is particularly concerned to get her phone back. Sadly she has cancer, and we are down here on holiday on a half term break between her chemotherapy appointments.

‘We’re completely devastated as the money she had been given for her 40th birthday was in the handbag. £120 might not seem a great deal but it was going to pay for our short holiday.

‘Any little trips away we can manage with our caravan are very welcome. But unfortunately, we’re going to lose the rest of our holiday getting the window fixed and sorting all this out.

‘If anyone has any knowledge of the crime, we would be very grateful.’

Dave and his family were keen to thank the owners and locals of The Ship Inn in Noss Mayo, who let the family use their phone and were ‘very kind’.
