A motorcyclist has been seriously injured in a crash involving a car in the South Hams.
It happened on the road between Deep Lane and Plympton Hill, which runs parallel to the A38, at around 4.50pm.
Police say the rider “sustained serious injuries”.
Two ambulances and an air ambulance have been sent to assist.
The air ambulance landed at Ivybridge Rugby Club and local firefighters transported crews to the scene.
Devon and Cornwall Police are asking drivers to avoid the area and diversions have been put in place.
It's understood the road will be closed for some time.
A force spokesperson said: “Emergency services are currently at the scene of a serious collision in Plympton.
“Police, ambulance and fire were called at 4.50pm on January 6 following a collision between a motorcycle and a car.
“The incident happened on a lane which runs parallel to the A38, between Deep Lane and Plympton Hill.
“The motorcyclist has sustained serious injuries and is being treated by ambulance.
“The occupants of the car are believed to be uninjured.
“The road is closed at Deep Lane and Plympton Hill and is expected to remain closed for some time.
“Diversions are being put in place and drivers are asked to avoid the area for the time being."
A South Western Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at around 4.55pm to attend a collision reportedly involving a motorbike and car on the A38 in the Deep Lane area.
"We’ve sent two land ambulance crews, an air ambulance crew and another paramedic to attend the incident."
Ivybridge Fire Station said: "At 5.05pm our co-responder crew was mobilised to Ivybridge Rugby Club to collect the Devon Air Ambulance crew and transport them and their specialist equipment to the scene of an RTC in the local area.
"The helicopter was unable to land at the scene of the incident but Ivybridge Rugby Club was the nearest night landing approved location.
"The co-responder crew are still on scene assisting."
