A man from the South Hams has pleaded not guilty to attempting to rape a woman in Torquay last month.
Kevin Foale, 49, of Lister Way, East Allington, denied a single count of attempted rape when he appeared at Exeter Crown Court by video link from the city’s prison.
Judge Peter Johnson adjourned the case for a trial at Exeter on July 8 this year and remanded him in custody.
Foale is alleged to have carried out the offence on land near The Terrace in Torquay in the early hours of January 20 this year.
Mr Peter Coombe, prosecuting, said the results of some forensic examination is still awaited and will be served on the defence as soon as it is available.
Mr Kevin Hopper, defending, said he hopes to make a bail application to a judge in chambers at Exeter Crown Court next week.
