THE Erme Primary School welcomed a visitor from the Devon Air Ambulance Trust recently to tell pupils about the charity’s work.

In a whole school assembly, children learnt about the crew onboard an air ambulance, the types of emergencies they attend, where they can access that standard ambulances cannot, and the equipment inside.

Staff and children were also told that as a charity DAAT has to raise £5.5 million to run the service each year.

The trust’s mascot Ambrose Bear also paid a surprise visit. Pupils found out that every child who is taken to hospital in the air ambulance is given their very own bear, although they thought it must be a bit smaller than Ambrose.

To help support DAAT, children decided to raise money with line dancing.
