A fair week with a difference is set to take place this year as COVID-19 restrictions take the events online.

Kingsbridge Fair Week, which runs from Saturday, July 18 to Saturday, July 25, is always a pivotal moment in the diaries of many locals and visitors. It is a week of celebrations which takes over the town and indicates summer has finally arrived. However, with 2020 being the year of global pandemics, ’Murder Hornets’, bush fires and demonstrations worldwide, events this year are also going to be a little bit different.

On Saturday, events will kick off with an online firework display starting at 9pm.

On Sunday, get ready to take part in the Crazy Quiz live stream with Quizmaster Kate Lynn hosted on Kingsbridge Fair Week’s Facebook page at 7pm.

For the love of dog(s) don’t miss out on the much-loved Dog Show, which will take place on Monday, July 20, at 5pm.

Take a picture of your ’pawfect pooch’ and get your entries in before 4pm on the day to be in with a chance of winning a Pet Portrait courtesy of Pet Pawtraits by Norsworthy Photography.

All the ’pupular’ categories are back with prizes for Best Dog, Best Bitch, Best Puppy (0-12 months), Best Veteran (7-years and over), and the Best Fancy Dress (Dog, Owner and Family).

Taking place on Tuesday, get ready for a whole host of puzzles and competitions all from the comfort of your own home.

Wednesday sees the reading of the charter at 6pm, followed by your lanterns on display at 8pm and then the Online Lantern Parade at 9pm.

Using materials at home, people are invited to get creative and design a lantern to enter in the fair week lantern competition. The theme for this year is positivity, so go for hearts, sunshine, friendship and family, nature – anything that inspires a smile.

Make sure to send in a photo of your lantern or a video of your mini-parade around the garden by 6pm on Wednesday, July 22, then tune in on the night to see them on display.

At 11am and then again at 7pm there will be an online children’s disco so make sure to tune in and get your boogey on.

Tune in on Friday, July 24, for an online DJ set by Kingsbridge’s very own Josh Kingdom at 9pm.

On Saturday, July 25, the week of virtual fair week fun comes to a climactic end with the online carnival procession, which will take place at 6.30pm.

Don’t forget that throughout the week the crab catching competition will be taking place. Head out with the kids, your buckets and your lines, to see how many crabs you can catch and then send the photos in to have them published on the Kingsbridge Fair Week website.
