A lifeline charity has collaborated with design students at Ivybridge Community College to come up with a brand new logo.

South Brent & District Caring works to improve the lives of elderly or vulnerable people in South Brent, Avonwick, Diptford, North Huish and Rattery by promoting independence.

This year the charity worked closely with Year 9 graphics pupils at Ivybridge Community College, briefing a group of 12 13 year olds on what it does. The creative youngsters then got down to work to come up with designs for a new logo, which needed to be colourful and clear, and able to be used in a variety of formats.

SBADC said the standard of the designs was incredibly high, and it was a tough decision for the management committee to decide on a winner. The eventually chose Max Pettett.

The charity has also had some staff changes recently, with Jane Sullivan taking over as coordinator and Viv Sweeney being appointed as the new office manager.

The pair are working hard to raise funds to continue SBADC’s vital work, and as such are holding the 3rd annual dog show on Saturday, September 9 at Palstone Park in South Brent. They are currently working on other fundraising ideas so watch this space.

Jane said: “We could really do with some new volunteers to help with transport. We have a small pool of volunteers who take people to health appointments at local hospitals, often at short notice, but we could do with more to keep up with demand. We will pay your travel expenses.

"If you can spare some time either on a regular basis or for ad hoc journeys, we’d love to hear from you."
