THE South Hams will once again star on national TV as hit BBC drama The Coroner returns for a second series later this month.

Millions tuned in to watch the day-time show starring Casualty’s Claire Goose when series one aired last autumn.

Dartmouth, Kingsbridge, Salcombe, Torquay, Paignton and Totnes all featured in the first series, which saw a consolidated series average of 1.7 million viewers.

Film crews were spotted in Dartmouth’s Bayard’s Cove and Foss Street this summer, along with Brixham’s Berry Head and Guardhouse cafe and Bantham Beach as well as various locations across the South Hams.

In series two, coroner Jane Kennedy, played by Goose, will once again investigate sudden or unexplained deaths in the fictional town of Lighthaven.

She works with former flame detective Sergeant Davey Higgins (Matt Bardock).

In episode one, which airs on BBC1 at 2.15pm on Monday, November 21, chief instructor Rafe Phelps is jumping at a skydiving school when his parachutes fails and he dies on impact. Rafe’s business partner and ex girlfriend Lori Fletcher tells Jane and Davey that the parachutes must have been sabotaged.

Meanwhile, one of the other skydivers Eddie Landman heads to the local pub to drown his sorrows and drunkenly reveals to Mick and Judith that he killed his best friend.

Jane finds out that he’s not the only one who had a motive and the opportunity to kill. Rafe’s distraught wife Jess begs Jane and Davey to give her some answers. The question on everyone’s mind is whether someone killed Rafe - or did he do it to himself?

The 10-episode drama continues at the same time each weekday for two weeks.
