The 13th Sibelco Cornwood 10K Challenge and Fun Run was held on Saturday and carried on the success of last year, with more than 200 runners taking on the 10k and more than 100 taking on the 4km fun run, despite the mixed forecast.
The 10km run, which started at 6.30pm, was around Cornwood and Lutton, mostly on roads but with some tracks and fields.
The overall victory went to David Hampton of South Devon Athletic Club in 35.37, closely followed by Adam Holland of Notfast RC in 36.33 and Joe Battershill of Erme Valley Harriers in 36.56.
For the ladies, Naomi Flanagan of Torbay AAC was first home in 42.11, followed by Nicky Savill of South West Road Runners in 42.36 and Erme Valley Harrier Emma Lake in 43.43.
The quickest male veteran was Torbay AAC’s Peter Monaghan in 38.02, with Garry Smart of Teignbridge Trotters next in 39.26 and Harrier Nicholas Bristow third in a time of 41.32.
The veteran ladies category saw Louise Burton home first in 48.59, with Sarah Welsh second in 50.11 and Helen Frow third with 50.54.
The team prizes went to Erme Valley Harriers for the men and Torbay AAC for the ladies.
