South Brent Judo Club hosted a Devon county training session earlier this month which attracted more than 30 players from Ivybridge, South Brent, Bideford, Plymouth and Torbay.
The session provided an excellent opportunity to train under former GB international and Devon coach Steve Coles and Pete Whitfield.
All the players were able to develop their skills and improve technically, as well as practise randori or competition with a range of partners. The prestigious Devon player of the year awards were also presented.
Cordelia Gregory (Plymouth Judo Club) was awarded the best junior girl award for the second year running. The other three awards went to SBJC players.
Tom Smith (Ivybridge Community College) won the junior boy award for the fourth year in a row: a truly astonishing achievement and a testament to Tom's commitment to judo.
The youth girl award went to Cerys Callard (Kingsbridge Community College) and the youth boy award to Tom Ingram (Kevicc), who have both have had a very successful year.
Tom is part of the England cadet squad and has been selected to represent England as a reserve at the Sainsbury's School Games.
