Kingskerswell and Chelston 1,
Ivybridge Town reserves 2
Substitute Matt Maller weighed in with two goals as Ivybridge, for the second week running, had to come from behind to claim all three points.
The first half was a fairly even affair, with Kingskerswell enjoying a large percentage of posession in their own half but never really troubling the Ivybridge rearguard.
fter a poor clearance from the home ‘keeper, the front pairing of Summers and Hayman should have capatilised to give the Ivies a half-time lead, but a last-ditch tackle saved the ‘keeper’s blushes.
The Ivies fell behind 15 minutes after the interval as a long clearance upfield wasnt dealt with by the defence, leaving the Kingskerswell forward time to pick his spot and slot home.
The visitors then upped their game as a change in formation and the introduction of Maller worked in their favour. He wasted no time in making his mark, rising highest to score from a great Simon McClements free kick.
The duo combined again to give Ivybridge the winner with 15 minutes remaining, Maller with another header which left the home goalkeeper helpless.
The young Kingskerswell outfit didn’t give up but found it hard against the resolute defence of Bell, Watt and Hatfield, while at the other end Ivybridge should have finished the game off, with Summers having the best of the chances.
The man-of-the-match award went to Lewis Cox. Next Saturday the reserves have a tricky Herald Cup tie at division one leaders Ashburton, 2pm kick-off.
