On Friday Dartmoor league captain Ian Black and his team travelled to Downes Crediton Golf Club for the end of season presentation.

After a fantastic season Ian and his team got to lift the Dartmoor League trophy. It was a close contest and it all went down to the last game, but Wrangaton managed to finish 1½ points ahead of Downes Crediton at the top of the league, a great achievement.

The annual Royal British Legion poppy appeal open golf day took place on Sunday.

After a horrid day of weather on Saturday, the sun was shining and the weather was great on Sunday as 88 players took part and a good day was had by all.

Wrangaton member Sean McCarthy and partner Neil Edwards finished on top of the pile with a fantastic score of 45 points.

Visitors M Henwood and G West took second place on countback with 43 points, pipping members Tommy Ry­der and Leigh Ryder by one point on the back nine holes.

Christian Lawrence and Oli Brown also managed 43 points to finish fourth on countback.

Peter Towers won the veteran’s monthly med­al with a score of net 68. Tony Dart finished second with net 70.

Roger Cummins snatched third place on countback from Keith Bailey, who both scored net 71.

On Wednesday the ladies’ section held a Texas scramble contest. The competition was reduced to nine holes due to poor wea­ther.

Ayumi Coulton, Marion Seward and Susan Gibson took the honours with a score of net 33.15.

Second place went to Stevie Foster, Maureen Taylor and Annie Worth, who managed a net 35.2.
