The month of May saw 10 swimmers from Dinnaton Swimming Club race at the South West of England Regional Championships.
The swimmers were Cole Haigh, Lloyd Stone, Thomas Jones, Lucy Pitt, Ella D’Cunha, Katie Cutler, Millie Tout, Jasmine D’Cunha, Madison Oman and Lottie Humphreys.
All of these swimmers went on to achieve personal best times, with a number making finals and medalling. The pick of the bunch were 11-year-old Jasmine D’Cunha who won three gold medals, attaining a place at the South West regional talent camp for her strong performances. 15-year-old Cole Haigh won a silver medal in an extremely competitive age group.
Head coach Aaron Rickhuss, who is in his first season in charge at the club, was extremely proud of his group of swimmers. He said: “This is just the start for a talented group of swimmers”.
Both Cole and Jasmine have now qualified for the British and English National Championships respectively, putting them in the top 20 of their age groups.
These championships will be held at Ponds Forge, Sheffield in July and August and will also be screened live on the website british
swimming.org.
